Gills Driving School Services

Theory Test
Since June, 2001, anyone wishing to obtain a new Provisional Licence has to take a Driver Theory Test. Gills Driving School offers a once-off class for 2.5 hours covering all the material on the theory test in all categories. With state-of-the art modern equipment, students actually get to do a couple of mock theory tests to give them a good idea as to what sitting this test will be like.

Gills will also book the test for students and have a 97% pass rate with those that have already attended the class.

Car
Gills Driving School Learning to drive does not have to be a burden, we make it easy, lessons are available in each category. We instruct people of all ages, who have never driven a vehicle previously and instruct them until they have reached testing standard.

Rigid and Articulated Truck
Gills Driving School Gill's Driving School offers instruction in all categories of Trucks i.e. C, C1, EC.

   Categories
   C1 Any rigid truck over 3500kg and under 7500kg
   C Rigid truck over 7500kg
   EC Articulated truck (Artic)

Gills Driving School Minbus and Coach
Recently, Gill's Driving School added a modern bus to their fleet. Lessons are available in Ballina, Sligo and Castlebar, although Sligo and Castlebar are the the only Test Centres for buses. Anyone wishing to take bus lessons, i.e. Category D (Bus), must hold a Full Car Licence, i.e. Category B (Car). In order to to obtain a Provisional Bus Licence one must take the new Driver Theory Test.

Gill's Driving School cover all the categories in their Theory class held once a week in Ballina and they will book the test for you. The bus is the optimum size for doing the test. Recently, Gill's used their new bus to train Servis Air ground staff for Dublin Airport. Gills Driving School

Advanced Driving
Gill's are pleased to announce that they now provide training to pass the Advanced Driving Test. One might ask "what is advanced driving"? The Advanced Driving Course improves driving and raises awareness of road safety. One must hold a Full Driving Licence in whatever category they wish to do.

It is a one-day course consisting of an informal class in the morning, covering all aspects of road safety followed in the afternoon by practical driving. Most Insurance companies recognise the Advanced Driving Test and give up to 20% reduction for anyone who has passed this test.

ADR Dangerous Goods by Road
Gills Driving School offer an official course in Hazardous loads and Hazchem on the road, tailored to the unique conditions on Irish roads, ideal for companies such as waste disposal groups, oil companies, and research / academic groups.

Transition Year Student Courses
This programme is a two-day course consisting of a class of Rules of the Road, Safety and Causes of Accidents. After the class, students get to do practical driving on private grounds. A lot of time is spent explaining the causes of accidents and what can be done to reduce them.

Receiving this knowledge at a young age will hopefully help bring down the number of accidents on Irish roads. After completing the class, students should have gained enough knowledge to pass the new Driver Theory Test. The students get approx. 40 minutes each driving the car.

Gill's have completed this course in many of the schools in Mayo and Sligo.
