Junior School Wardens

In many areas Junior School Wardens (the senior pupils of primary schools), operating in teams provide a similar service as the Adult School Warden. These wardens operate in teams of six. A signal requesting traffic to stop is given from both sides of the road.

When traffic is stopped the wardens take up their position and guide the younger children across the road. All vehicles must remain stopped until all the Junior Wardens have returned to the footpath.

To enable school wardens to do their work properly and safely it is vital that they have a clear view of the road. Drivers should not park or stop in positions which obstruct the warden's view.
