PARKING - PROHIBITIONS
The following traffic signs/roadway markings indicate prohibitions or restrictions:-

Business hours may vary from town to town but in most major towns "business hours" means Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Parking is also prohibited -
• Where white zig/zag lines are provided on either side of pedestrian a lights, pelican or zebra crossings. These lines also prohibit stopping for any purpose (other than in traffic) within the area marked by the lines.
• Either wholly or partly on a zebra or pelican crossing or at pedestrian lights or, where there is no prohibitory sign or marking, (a) where the street on which the crossing is provided is a two-way street, within 15 metres of either side of the crossing, (b) where the street on which the crossing is provided is one-way, within 15 metres on the approach side or 5 metres on the exit side to the crossing.
• In proximity to a school entrance where roadway markings consisting of yellow zig/zag lines along the edge of the roadway enclosing the words "SCHOOL KEEP CLEAR" are provided.
• Within the area marked as a bus-stop or taxi-rank,
• Where there is a single or double continuous white line along the centre of the road (except in urban areas where the road is wide enough for three or more traffic lanes,)
• Either wholly or partly on a footway, a grass margin or a median strip,
• Within 5 metres of a road junction unless there are facilities provided for doing so (e.g. a road inset),
• On a part of a roadway reserved for casual trading during the hours of trading,
• In a withflow bus lane during the hours that the lane is in operation,
• In a contra flow bus lane,
• Partly or wholly on a cycle track,
• At an entrance to a fire brigade or ambulance station,
• In a loading bay during the working day,
• At a corner, bend, brow of a hill or a hump back bridge,
• In any position which obstructs the view of a school warden, or junior school warden service,
• In a parking bay reserved for parking by holders of disabled drivers permits unless you are the holder of such a permit.
PARKING METERS/DISC PARKING In some built-up areas restricted parking facilities are provided by the use of parking meters or a system of parking discs. Such parking is generally limited to a period of time and a vehicle must not PARK AGAIN in the same street within one hour of leaving a meter parking place or a disc parking place.


PARKING AT NIGHT
• You should park in line with the traffic flow (i.e. on the left hand side of a the road or on either side of a one way street).
• You should ensure that your vehicle can be seen. This means that where no street lighting is available, parking lights are turned on. On no account should headlights be left on.
