• Single or double continuous white lines along the centre of the road; all traffic must keep to the left of the line (except in an emergency or for access). |

• Broken white lines along the centre of the road alert drivers to danger and must not be crossed unless it is safe to do so. |

• Double broken white lines along the centre of the road alert drivers to continuous white lines a short distance ahead and must not be crossed unless it is safe to do so. |

• Broken white lines together with single white lines - the line nearest the driver must be obeyed. |

• Single broken yellow line along the edge of the roadway - indicates the edge of a carriageway where a hard shoulder is normally provided. The hard shoulder is not an extra traffic lane and should not normally be used as such by traffic other than cyclists or pedestrians. |
Bus lanes - these are for the exclusive use of buses during the periods of 2 time indicated on accompanying signs. Cyclists and taxis are permitted to travel in with-flow bus lanes.
