It is an offence to drive a defective vehicle on a public road. The onus is on the driver to ensure that the vehicle being driven is in good working order. In particular, steering, brakes, front and rear lamps, reflectors, rear view mirrors, speedometer, tyres, windscreen wipers, horn and silencer should be checked regularly to ensure that they are in working order.
